Poured Insulation and Screed on Site

At Clockwork Screed, the value of what we do is best seen on site, not in brochures. The following case studies show how our liquid screed and poured insulation have helped projects run smoothly, cut waste and achieve reliable finishes across the North West and beyond.

Luxury New Build: Getting Foundations Right in Hale  (See the  case study here)

Working with Cheshire luxury housebuilder Bayley & Swift, we faced the challenge of delivering both high-spec poured insulation and liquid screed flooring for a multi-level, multi-million-pound home in Hale. Traditional PIR board insulation often complicates high-end residential builds, especially where intricate floor details and different level thresholds are required. By switching to poured insulation, we eliminated the need for board cutting, reduced install time, and ensured complete coverage, even at tricky junctions. Our liquid screed then provided a level, self-finished surface ready for subsequent trades. For a project where expectations were as high as the spec, it was all about doing the basics well and letting intelligent materials speak for themselves.

Residential Comfort in Birkenhead (See the case study here)

A domestic client in Prenton, Birkenhead chose us to install liquid screed over underfloor heating in their home. We’re often approached to solve one of the classic pain points in modern home heating: making sure UFH systems deliver heat efficiently through to the floor’s surface. Our liquid screed creates excellent coverage over pipework and quickly produces a surface ready for floor finishes. The installation meant not only faster walk-on times but also even, responsive warmth for the customer’s living space.

Restoration at Wigan Civic Centre (See the case study here)

Older civic buildings can be a challenge. Access, floor unevenness and the need to work around other contractors all add complexity. At Wigan Civic Centre, we were tasked with screeding across three floors as part of a restoration. Our mobile plant and self-levelling screed ensured each level finished flush with adjacent thresholds, delivering a uniform result without extended drying times. The screeding phase didn’t hold up the schedule, and the end product provided a solid foundation for the next steps in the refurbishment.

Market Quarter, Congleton: Solutions for Busy Spaces (See the case study here)

Clockwork Screed installed liquid screed floors in three new businesses at Congleton Market Quarter: R&G’s Tap House, Wood Fire Smoke Pizza, and The Foundry. In these busy, public-facing spaces, speed and surface consistency are key. Our screed ensured a rapid, even finish, enabling fit-outs to proceed directly after. Business owners benefited from a site that was easier to keep clean and adaptable for a range of flooring finishes, whether for kitchens, bars, or open seating areas.

Sport on Solid Ground: Hyde Cricket Club (See the case study here)

Hyde Cricket Club’s new practice pitch project combined practical durability with the need for a quick turnaround, as it was sited on a hill and subject to the worst of North West weather. Our team installed a level screed base for the new matting and nets, providing a practical, resilient surface to support year-round practice for club players. The result was improved utility on day one and reliable performance that will stand up to years of heavy use.

City Centre Dining: Yum Cha, Manchester (See the case study here)

Our project at Yum Cha restaurant in Manchester was a departure from typical residential or new build sites. Restaurants need reliable, hard-wearing floors with minimal disruption to business. Our screed solution offered both. The team completed the job within a tight window, and the finished surface accommodates high footfall and quick cleaning, ideal for city hospitality.

Eco-Home Upgrades: Chepstow (See the case study here)

Mr. and Mrs. Tyzack’s eco-home conversion stands out for its focus on long-term energy performance. Here, our insulation and screed formed part of a wider fabric-first approach intended to eliminate thermal bridging and prepare the home for efficient low-carbon heating. By pouring insulation directly to the base, followed by high-performance screed, the result was a seamless building envelope with strong underfoot comfort.

High-Density Living: Park View Apartments, Chorley (See the case study here)

Property developer 108 Ventures engaged us on the Park View project covering 18 new apartments. Multi-residential schemes need coordinated, repeatable processes to keep pace with demanding schedules. Our mobile screed operation handled multiple floors in succession, producing flat, even surfaces across apartments. Construction teams avoided the typical hold-ups that can come from inconsistent batches or material shortages.

Across all these projects, our goal remains practical and straightforward: deliver the right screed or insulation for each site, with no waste and no drama. We focus on reliable service, responsive planning, and finishes ready for the next trade.

If you have an upcoming project, whether it’s a new build, retrofit, or fit-out, and want to discuss how poured screed or insulation can simplify the process, get in touch with our team. Real outcomes matter, and that’s where we do our best work.

Smarter Floors, Warmer Homes: What’s Next for Insulation & Screed in 2026 The demand for effective thermal insulation beneath screed floors in the UK is steadily growing. This increase is driven largely by evolving building regulations aimed at improving energy efficiency, alongside broader societal efforts to reduce carbon emissions and boost comfort in both residential and commercial properties. Industry experts predict that as new materials and installation methods become more widely adopted, this trend will shape how flooring is specified and installed through 2026 and beyond.

Meeting the 2025 Future Homes Standard with Smarter Flooring Solutions The Future Homes Standard (FHS) is set to be fully enforced from January 2028, following a legislative process that begins in late 2025. The regulations will be published in late 2025, and after a transition period, all new homes built from January 2028 will be required to comply with the new standard. As the UK government prepares to introduce the Future Homes Standard (FHS), the construction industry is on the brink of some of its most transformative changes in recent history. Designed to drastically reduce carbon emissions from new homes by 75-80% compared to current regulations, the FHS is an ambitious initiative aimed at future-proofing housing by significantly boosting energy efficiency and mandating low-carbon heating solutions. For those involved in building design and construction, including specialist services like floor screeding, this shift presents both challenges and considerable opportunities.

Building Regulation Changes Regarding Insulation in Roofs: Why Clockwork Screed's Poured Insulation is an Ideal Choice
6 December 2024
When it comes to building or renovating a property, one of the most important considerations is insulation. Effective insulation can make a significant difference in energy efficiency, comfort, and the overall cost of maintaining a building. Here’s why poured insulation, such as the solutions offered by Clockwork Screed, is a smart choice for property owners, builders, and contractors. Poured insulation is a liquid material that is poured directly onto the subfloor to create a continuous thermal layer. Unlike traditional insulation boards, which can be cumbersome to install and often leave gaps, poured insulation fills every space evenly, ensuring there are no cold spots or areas where heat can escape. One of the primary advantages of poured insulation is its ability to enhance energy efficiency. By providing a seamless thermal barrier, it helps retain heat in the winter and keeps the building cool in the summer. This means that heating and cooling systems don’t have to work as hard, resulting in lower energy bills and reduced energy consumption.
